Bengt Holmstrom
Bengt Robert Holmström is the Paul A. Samuelson Professor of Economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he also was head of the Economics Department from 2003-2006. He holds a joint appointment with MIT’s Sloan School of Management. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Econometric Society and an elected foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Finnish Academy of Sciences and Letters. He is a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, a member of the executive committee for the Center of Economic Policy Research and second Vice President of the Econometric Society.
Professor Holmstrom received his doctorate degree from Stanford University. He has served as an associate professor at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and as the Edwin J. Beinecke Professor of Management at Yale University’s School of Management.
Professor Holmstrom’s research interests are in the fields of contracting and incentives. He has contributed to the development of the theory of contracting and incentives, the theory of the firm, corporate governance the most recently to the understanding of liquidity problems and financial crises.
Professor Holmstrom is a board member of Nokia Corporation, the Aalto University Foundation and several academic advisory and scientific boards.

Jonathan R. Macey
Jonathan R. Macey is the Sam Harris Professor of Corporate Law, Corporate Finance and Securities Law at Yale University, and Professor in the Yale School of Management. Professor Macey is the author of several books including the two-volume treatise, Macey on Corporation Laws, and co-author of two leading casebooks, Corporations: Including Partnerships and Limited Liability Companies and Banking Law and Regulation. In 1995, Professor Macey was awarded the Paul M. Bator prize for excellence in Teaching, Scholarship and Public Service by the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy. In 2004, he was awarded a Teaching Award by the Yale Law Women in recognition of his “commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring and inspiring.” Professor Macey earned his B.A., cum laude, from Harvard and his J.D. from Yale Law School. He received a Ph.D. honoris causa from the Stockholm School of Economics.

In addition to her role at UQ, Renée is a Research Associate at the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI). Her research focuses on corporate governance, governance of financial institutions, corporate finance, and the economics of organisations. In 2006, her co-authored paper "A Theory of Friendly Boards" won the Egon Zehnder Prize, for the ECGI's "best paper on company boards and their role in European corporate governance". Her recent research has appeared in Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics and Review of Finance. Financial Integrity Research Network (FIRN).
Renée is a member of European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI), European Corporate Governance Training Network (ECGTN), Stockholm International Corporate Governance Institute (SICGI), Stockholm Institute for Transition Economics (SITE).
